Giving is a part of our walk with God

Biblical Giving

Thank you for using the Carver Missionary Baptist Church online giving option to join us in our mission of reaching people with the life-giving message of Jesus. As many people enter into a new-found relationship with Christ, please know that it couldn't happen without your generosity. We are truly grateful for your donation and hope the convenience and simplicity of online giving will be helpful to you.

As Christians we believe that we are merely stewards or trustees of God's financial provisions. Therefore, we need to give back a portion directly to His work. Giving is the only area in the Bible where God invites us to test Him. The scriptural command is at least a tithe, ten percent of what we receive. "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. (Malachi 3:10) Notice, the tithe is to be brought into the storehouse of God's house. The storehouse was the general fund of God's house- the equivalent today would be the general fund of the church. Our giving provides no leverage, position, or preference with God. It is an act of faith and obedience which in itself creates opportunity for blessing. As Jesus said, "Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver."- (2 Cor 9:7) Giving financially to the Lord is our privilege.

GIVING FAQ'S

Difference between tithe and offering:
Financial giving can be divided into two categories: tithes and offerings. The Bible teaches us that we worship the Lord with our tithe, which is ten percent of our income contributed to the church on a regular basis. When we feel called to give over and above our tithe, we do so as an offering.

GIVING PRINCIPLES

First Fruits:
The first belongs to God. We find this principle all through God's Word. Tithing, giving God the first ten percent of our income to the local church, is the primary way we acknowledge that God is first. (Proverbs 3:9,10).

Know Giving, Know Life:
Giving is the antidote for materialism. Whereas the tithe is giving ten percent of your income to the local church, an offering is given out of the ninety percent of your income. Therefore the offering is giving over and above the tithe. The Bible says that by giving generously we are able to "take hold of the life that is truly life." You aren't really living unless you are freely giving. (I Timothy 6:18,19)

A Spiritual Matter:
How we handle money impacts our relationship with Christ. When we are faithful with the resources God provides, we will enjoy a closer and more rewarding relationship with Jesus. Managing money God's way provides evidence of our ability to mange greater responsibilities in God's kingdom. (Luke 16:11) (Matthew 25:21)
